Panic attack

Panic attack. Panic disorder is mostly common for the younger generation. By dividing by gender categories, women are more prone to panic attacks than men. During panic disorder, attacks occur, called a panic attack. The reason for such attacks can be fear and severe stress, and sometimes attacks can emerge without any cause. The main symptoms of panic attacks are given below:

  • Feeling of strain in the chest;
  • Cardiopalmus;
  • Suffocation;
  • Pain in the abdomen, nausea;
  • Loss of self-control;
  • Fear of death;
  • Increased sweating;
  • Shivering.

If you have at least four of these symptoms, you should think about the risk of a panic attack. A panic attack can catch a patient, regardless of any circumstances: driving, watching TV, and even in a sleep. Usually, the attack lasts no more than 10 minutes. The frequency of attacks can vary from several times a year to several times a month, and even a day. During an attack, the patient loses control of himself. He becomes overcome with fears. In most cases, patients note a feeling of contraction and pain in the heart area, and the subsequent fear of death, heart attack or cardiac arrest. Due to this stress, palpitation and sweating increases, and abdominal pain is observed. Guided by these symptoms, patients should consider it appropriate to make a visit to the cardiologist. Only after a detailed examination the cardiologist can assure them over the absence of any problems related to cardiac dysfunction and refer them to a psychiatrist. In general, panic disorders are treated with direct supervision of a doctor.
